How to Add Google Merchant Center to Your Store

Connecting your Shopify store to Google Merchant Center is a relatively straightforward process, largely streamlined by Shopify’s built-in integrations. The easiest method is to use the “Google & YouTube” sales channel available in your Shopify admin.

  1. Install the Google & YouTube App:
    From your Shopify admin, go to Settings > Apps and sales channels. Search for and install the “Google & YouTube” app.
  2. Connect Google Account: Follow the prompts to connect your Google account. You’ll need to grant Shopify permission to access your Google account information.
  3. Link Google Merchant Center Account: Select an existing Google Merchant Center account from the dropdown list, or create a new one if you don’t have one already. You may need to verify yourself as the owner of the GMC account.
  4. Review Store Settings: Complete the checklist provided by the app, which includes verifying your store settings, ensuring a valid payment method, refund policy, and contact information.
  5. Product Sync & Shipping: The app will automatically sync eligible products from your Shopify store to Google Merchant Center. You can choose to automatically import shipping settings from Shopify or set them up manually in GMC.

Once the setup is complete, your products will begin to sync, making them eligible for display across Google’s vast network. Regularly check your GMC account for product approval status and any potential errors to maintain optimal visibility.
