The migration from Squarespace to Shopify involving a full data transfer to ensure no impact to business operations.

Alonside the migration was the creation of a bright, modern design that matches the brands identity on a platform that will let them scale as they continue to expand their product catelogue.

The project began with selecting a Shopify theme that reflected the brand’s identity while supporting future scalability. The site was then redesigned from the ground up to enhance both visual appeal and user experience. As part of the replatforming, new collections were created to better organise the product catalog, improve navigation, and provide a more intuitive shopping journey across the site.

Our approch

Our strategy centred on a seamless migration from Squarespace to Shopify, where we prioritised data integrity and zero downtime, while simultaneously reimagining the brand’s visual identity through a high-performance theme selected for its scalability and modern design aesthetic. Moving to shopify also expanded the brands ability to scale and grow.

The challenge

The primary obstacle of this project was to transition the client from the rigid environment of Squarespace to a more robust architecture capable of supporting their rapid growth. A significant hurdle involved the comprehensive migration of customer and product data, including the transfer of historical orders, customer profiles, and product databases. Another challenge was to improve operational efficiency, as managing a growing product catalog had become an administrative burden, lacking the dynamic logic required for modern e-commerce.

Furthermore, the brand had outgrown the "off-the-shelf" aesthetic that Squarespace offers, requiring a design that could reflect a unique identity without sacrificing site performance.

The solution

To overcome these technical hurdles, I created a high-performance e-commerce store designed for operational efficiency and long-term growth:

  • Migration - A custom migration strategy that mapped orders, customers and pages redirects, ensuring a seamless transition for existing customers and the business.
  • Automation - The store's product catelog architecture was re-created by implementing automated collections, utilising tag-based logic to allow the storefront to self-organise as new products are added.
  • Design - I proposed a theme that closely matched the brand and incorporated featured that will allow them to continue expanding their collections with focus on navigation and menus.
